I've come online to buy another book from this series, that's how much I liked Dot-to-dot Machines. It uses color on each page as a prompt to draw certain objects in certain colors. So wheels are black and truck cabs are red, each having its own set of numbers. Level of difficulty was just right for my son when he got it (right about when he turned 5). Everyone is different on this of course. As an example, one page is titled "Machines in the Air". There is an airplane (dots 1-17) in blue, a helicopter (dots 1-36) in yellow, a jet (dots 1-21) in red. Lots going on on a 2 page spread, I like that there are 3 smaller dot-to-dots not just one big one. If you kid is frustrated by lack of "white space" or by simply too much going on on one page, this might not be the right book for you. But my son really enjoyed it and specifically asked for another one like it (with the colored dots). And yes, as another reviewer mentioned, these are nice quality pages, not thin newsprint that tears when a kid drags a pencil across it. We use colored pencils for pencil-control skills and it's just a little neater than crayon or marker.

Dottodot Machines Karen BryantMole Jenny Tyler Graham Round 9780794514952 Books Reviews

This a very nice book as dot-to-dot books go,I was pleasantly surprised to see color on the pages and a nice quality paper.
My grandson is 5 yrs. old and loves dot to dot so I purchased these online because it is hard to find just dot to dot books in my area. I gave them to him in his Easter basket, he thought they were the greatest.
Bought a whole series of dot to dot books for my grandchildren. Some are more advanced which their parents will actually complete so they can color, but all the books were quality pieces and reasonably priced.
My son is 4 y.o and enjoys this dot to dot. It actually is more than dots, b/c it teaches them small things like what a buoy is... this might be more oriented toward boys as it has emergency vehicles, steam machine (train), etc. My son doesn't usually enjoy dot to dots but this has made it a lot more fun. It has several dot to dots on one page that are color coded.
Got these for my son right before our vacation. It's a great diversion if you're traveling. He loved the machines and I loved counting aspect of it. My son is 4 and needed a little encouraging to get through some of the higher numbers but he did just fine. I'm going to get more of these for Easter and birthday.
I purchased 3 Dot-To-Dot books for my grandson Sammy who loves doing them. I usually take one out when Grandma (that's me) can use a little quiet time. I set up some snacks and a drink along with pencils, pens, and crayons and we both have a great time. These are terrific books that are fun for children and Grandma's! We try to guess what the picture will be and we talk and laugh and have lots of fun. I highly recommend this series of books
